Winter sports
Q - Do you cover off-piste skiing?
A - Yes, if you have taken our winter Sports option. We recognise that people may go off-piste although we recommend that they only do so if they have the appropriate skills and equipment and are accompanied by someone who knows the area well. Our winter sports cover includes skiing, tobogganing, snow boarding and outdoor ice-skating. Competitive winter sports are excluded including ski or ski bob racing, mono skiing, ski jumping, ski boarding, ice hockey and the use of bobsleighs and skeletons.
Q - What happens if I can’t ski for some reason?
A - If you’re ill or have an accident or you lose your ski pass or have it stolen we’ll pay for the unused portion up to £75 per week, with a maximum of £300 per holiday. Or, if you are unable to ski for over 12 consecutive hours because of a lack of snow in your resort and there’s no alternative skiing available, we’ll pay £20 for each full 24 hour period, with a maximum of £200 per holiday.
Q - If I have an accident whilst skiing, will my policy pay to get me off the slopes and into hospital?
A - Yes, if what you were doing falls within our permitted winter sports activities and is not excluded by the policy, you are insured under our medical and additional expenses cover. And there is also cover for the unexpired part of your ski pass.
